One morning the landlady cooked a bowlful of groats(a type of cereal) and brought it out to the ducklings.
They were just about to start their food.
Then suddenly a mysterious creature flew in. It was not a butterfly nor beetle.
It looked so big and a monster.
The creature flew and sat on the food bowl's brim.
After a while it flew away but the frightened ducklings avoided the bowl for the rest of the day.
As they thought that it might arrive again.
In the evening, the landlady came to take the bowl and found the food was not touched by the ducklings.
She thought that the ducklings were sick.
The very next day a duckling Alex (Landlady's neighbours duckling) came to visit his neighbours.
Then landlady came with another bowl full of groats.
Again there came the monster.
Alex asked," Isn't a fly?"
The ducklings replied," It was yesterday's beastly giant" and ran away.
Alex is the only one not to have cold feet.
He attacked the monster and caught him by the wing with his mouth.
The insect could hardly tear himself away and escaped with a broken wing.
From then all the ducklings could eat their food undisturbed.
Brave duckling Alex was always welcome guest to their table.
It was he who saved them from the monstrous dragon fly!
